Parent Conferences
Parent Conferences are scheduled for Thursday November 6th (No School Thursday 11/6 or Friday 11/7).  There is a signup sheet out to meet and discuss how awesome your child is! If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss please email me this week so I can give it my full attention before we meet. If you need a special time please let me know and we can arrange something.

Halloween Parties
Our Halloween Parties will be this Thursday & Friday.  The children are invited to dress up; we will parade through the classrooms and visit the grandma’s & grandpas across at Kindred.  We have a few games that we will play but always welcome more if you have any that you would like to bring and help out with. If you would like to come back for the party we will be starting games at 11:00ish.

This week in the Dragonfly Class
This week in the Dragonfly Class we will be talking about real and pretend.  We will talk about things that might scare us and why, we will talk about what is real and what is pretend.  We will take their lead in this and go from there.  We are going to read some favorite Halloween stories, The Halloweenier and The Little Old Lady That is Not Afraid of Anything!

Word Wall
The letter of the week is the letter Ee.  We encourage you to help your child find something that begins with the letter of the week.  This is a great way to get them thinking about beginning sounds and letter recognition.  The items your child brings in will be placed in a container until the last group time of the day where we will talk about the letter and sound. We will take turns sharing our items and then they will go home with them at the end of the day.

Just a note
I hope everyone had a nice weekend and was able to enjoy this fall weather! We will be doing assessing this week and next preparing for Parent Conferences which are November 6th.

I will have a sign-up sheet out this week for times, I will need to schedule some before class and some after class to fit everyone in.  I will be sending home a Conference Questionnaire, please turn these in before conferences so I can give any concerns or questions my full attention.

This week in the Dragonfly Class
This week in the Dragonfly Class we are exploring pumpkins! We will be hammering golf tees into one pumpkin (a great fine motor skill), we will create pumpkins for our pumpkin patch, and we will investigate the inside of a pumpkin!  We are working on assessments this week as well but I want to assure you that this is low pressure, we frame it as a game and the kids are usually very excited about their turn. Just a note
It’s Pumpkin Patch Week!!  We will not have school on Thursday & Friday, we will meet at the Vancouver Pumpkin Patch. As for all field trip parents must transport and accompany their child to the field trip. The Cost is $5.00 per child and includes a pumpkin! If parents would like to get a pumpkin they can pay $5.00 or .25 cents/lb for a pumpkin. We attend Rain or Shine (so let’s hope for sun!)  It is a good idea to bring a towel to wipe your pumpkin, hands, and whatever else might get muddy if it’s wet out.  A plastic bag for your child to carry their pumpkin is a good idea too.  We have never been to this Pumpkin Patch so I’m not sure is they hand out bags.  I thought it might be nice if everyone could bring a snack to share together after we get our pumpkins.  It’s a great time to get a group picture! J   Here is the address and information for the Field Trip, please plan to meet a few minutes ahead of your time.

Fundraisers
LAPSK is a non-profit preschool; fundraising is an important piece to our program.  We have several fundraisers going on at the moment,  please don’t feel like you need to be involved in them all but we do Very Much Appreciate your continued support of our school.  We have a very special community here at Little Acorn and you are the reason why!  Our current fundraisers are: Kiggins Theater, Usborne Book eFair, Scholastic books, Scentsy and box tops.   We have a fundraising committee that oversees our fundraisers, if you have any questions or concerns about our fundraisers please see Katie.  I would also like to thank Karli Brown who is doing the Scentsy fundraiser! Karli donates 100% of the profits to Little Acorn from this fundraiser.
